Six motorists are now facing Highway Traffic Act charges after driving through a closed section of County Road 31 in South Dundas. The closure was put in place Friday night following a fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer and car.
According to the OPP, the road remained blocked for several hours, and most drivers complied with the posted signs and barricades. However, shortly after 6:30 p.m., one driver bypassed the closure, drove directly into the collision scene, and then performed a U-turn upon seeing officers. Several other drivers followed the same route, with one individual reportedly moving pylons to get around the blockade.
All six drivers were issued charges carrying a $110 fine and three demerit points. Police are urging motorists to respect road closures and signage, emphasizing that patience during such incidents helps protect both responders and the public.
