Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after Ontario Provincial Police discovered roughly $10,000 worth of cocaine in a vehicle that had just collided with a deer on Highway 401. The crash occurred around 4 a.m. Saturday in Blandford-Blenheim Township in Oxford County.
During their investigation at the scene, Oxford OPP officers searched the vehicle and seized about 120 grams of suspected cocaine, along with cash, cellphones, a scale, and packaging materials. One occupant was treated for minor injuries at hospital, while the other was unhurt.
A 60-year-old woman from Mississauga and a 33-year-old Guelph man have both been charged with trafficking-related offences. The man also faces charges for obstructing an officer and breaching a release order; he remains in custody following a bail hearing. The woman was released after her hearing.
Both accused are set to appear in court in Woodstock on January 6.
