Brantford police are searching for a suspect after a stolen pickup truck crashed into a tree early Sunday morning. The silver GMC Sierra was reportedly speeding on Ninth Avenue before striking a tree on Erie Avenue around 4:39 a.m. Investigators later learned the truck had been stolen from Langton and was using licence plates taken from Brantford.

A 37-year-old woman located at the scene was arrested and charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000. The driver, however, fled before officers arrived and has not been found. He is described as a white man with short brown hair, dressed in a dark hoodie and jeans.

Police are asking residents in the Eagle Place area—between River Road and Mohawk Street—to review their surveillance footage from 4:30 to 5:30 a.m. They are also requesting dash cam video from drivers who were in the neighbourhood during that timeframe.
