A transport truck driver from Brampton has been charged with impaired and dangerous driving after crashing a tractor-trailer into a ditch along the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Augusta Township on Tuesday evening.
OPP officers were called around 7 p.m. and determined the 39-year-old driver had alcohol levels roughly double the legal limit. No injuries were reported.
The driver is now facing several offences, including impaired operation, dangerous driving, and having open and accessible liquor in the vehicle. His licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the truck was impounded for a week. He is expected to appear in court in Brockville on December 12.
