A Milton driver is facing a careless driving charge after crashing a black SUV into a fire hydrant late Monday night, causing significant flooding in a residential neighbourhood.
The collision occurred around 10 p.m. on Trudeau Drive near Derry Road and James Snow Parkway. Water gushed into the air from the damaged hydrant, leading to flooded basements in nearby homes and a temporary power shutdown for safety.
Police have charged the driver under the Highway Traffic Act.
