A 65-year-old man is facing serious charges after a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Vaughan on Thursday evening.
Investigators say a 62-year-old Toronto resident was using the marked crossing at Highway 7 and Islington Avenue around 7:22 p.m. when a tractor-trailer making a right turn struck him. The pedestrian died at the scene.
According to police, the truck driver did not remain at the site but was located and arrested shortly afterward near Steinway Boulevard and Steeles Avenue in Toronto. The accused, from Whitchurch-Stouffville, is charged with dangerous driving causing death and failing to stop after a fatal collision.
The investigation continues, and officers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to contact them.
