Guelph police have charged a 54-year-old local man after his black Ram pickup crashed into a home on Stevenson Street North Thursday afternoon.

Officers say the driver lost control around 2:30 p.m., veering off the road and striking the house, which sustained major damage. No injuries were reported, and the truck had to be removed from the structure.

Police noted signs of alcohol use, including the smell on the driver’s breath and empty containers inside the vehicle. Testing at the station confirmed he was impaired.

The man is now facing impaired and dangerous driving charges. His licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle will remain impounded for one week.
