Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a crash involving an OPP cruiser and a civilian vehicle on Highway 400 in North York on Friday morning.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) reported the collision occurred around 7 a.m. near Finch Avenue, prompting the closure of all northbound lanes at Highway 401 for several hours. The roadway reopened shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Both the officer and the civilian driver were taken to hospital, though the extent of their injuries has not been confirmed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The SIU has assigned three investigators, two forensic specialists, and a collision reconstructionist to the case.
