Hamilton police are investigating after an 85-year-old man was struck by a vehicle in St. Catharines. The incident occurred around 9:45 a.m. in a plaza parking lot at Welland Avenue and Bunting Road.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police confirmed the driver remained on scene and is an off-duty Niagara Regional Police officer.
To prevent any conflict of interest under the Policing Act, Hamilton police have taken over the investigation. The parking lot remains closed while the investigation is ongoing.
