A Huntsville man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing a crash in which a pickup truck broke through a metal guardrail on the Highway 11 northbound on-ramp from South Mary Lake Road on the evening of Nov. 24.
Officers arrived to find the wrecked truck with the driver nowhere in sight, and witnesses reported someone leaving the area on foot. Not long after, police received reports of a suspicious individual nearby. They soon located the truck owner and determined he was impaired before taking him into custody.
The 39-year-old is charged with impaired driving involving both alcohol and drugs, having a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit, leaving the scene of a collision, and failing to report the crash. He has been released with a court date set for next month, while his licence is suspended for 90 days and the truck is impounded for a week.
