An intersection in Markham has reopened after an early-morning crash caused by a driver who allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel.

York Regional Police were called to Markham Road and Bullock Drive around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday after an SUV struck two light standards and another pole before coming to rest on a nearby lawn. No one was injured.

Crews spent several hours repairing damaged traffic lights, keeping the intersection closed until early afternoon. Police have not yet said whether any charges will be laid.
