A 46-year-old woman suffered severe burns in a two-alarm fire at an apartment building in south Etobicoke. The fire broke out in a second-floor unit at 1 Summerhill Road, near Lake Shore Boulevard West, around 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Firefighters quickly responded and found the woman with second-degree burns. She was rushed to the hospital, but no other injuries were reported. Authorities believe the fire started from incense in the bedroom. The woman attempted to extinguish it herself, which led to her injuries.
The blaze was contained to the second-floor apartment, and after the building was evacuated, residents were later allowed to return home.
