Sault Ste. Marie police have charged two men with impaired and dangerous driving in separate single-vehicle crashes reported just days apart.

The first incident happened on the afternoon of Dec. 5, when a vehicle was found in a ditch on Black Road. Officers determined the 30-year-old driver was impaired by alcohol and arrested him. At the OPP detachment, he failed to provide a proper breath sample and now faces charges that include impaired driving, dangerous operation, and failing to comply with a demand.

The second incident occurred late Sunday morning on Charlotte Drive, where a vehicle had landed in a snowbank. Police say a 50-year-old driver showed signs of drug impairment and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. A drug recognition evaluation confirmed impairment, leading to charges of dangerous operation and two impaired-driving-related offences.

Both men received 90-day licence suspensions and had their vehicles impounded for seven days. They were released with court dates set for Jan. 5.
