A snowy Wednesday afternoon led to treacherous driving conditions on Highway 417, with Ontario Provincial Police responding to multiple crashes. Since 6 p.m. Wednesday, officers have attended 17 minor collisions, including one where a driver was hospitalized with minor injuries. Fortunately, the driver’s dog was unharmed and taken home by an officer.

Slippery conditions continued into Thursday morning, resulting in more minor crashes, often with vehicles sliding into ditches. A more serious incident involving a jack-knifed tractor-trailer is blocking lanes on Highway 401 east of Cornwall, though no injuries have been reported. Drivers are advised to expect delays.
