Firefighters in Timmins battled a major blaze at an industrial complex on Laforest Road for nearly 10 hours on Sunday. The fire broke out at D&L Towing around 4 a.m., with crews arriving to find heavy smoke and flames at the rear of the building. Despite aggressive efforts to control the fire, it quickly spread to the roof and throughout the structure.
Firefighting operations were challenging due to the severe winter conditions, cold temperatures and logistical issues. Water was supplied by tanker shuttles from Airport Road, with all available fire department tankers deployed to ensure a steady flow.
The fire was finally under control by 2 p.m. on Sunday, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Timmins Fire Department, the Office of the Fire Marshal, and Timmins Police Service.
