An 18-year-old man from Mississippi Mills has died in a single-vehicle crash late Monday night, just west of Ottawa. The incident occurred around midnight on 8th Concession South Pakenham near Cedar Hill Side Road.

According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle is facing multiple charges related to impaired driving.

After the crash, the driver and one passenger were able to exit the vehicle, but a third passenger was trapped inside and had to be rescued by local firefighters. Despite their efforts, the trapped passenger later succumbed to his injuries. The two other individuals sustained only minor injuries.

The driver now faces charges for impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit. Due to his age, the driver’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court next month in Perth.
