Residents of a highrise in Toronto’s West Don Lands neighbourhood have been allowed back into their homes after a carbon monoxide incident was resolved Tuesday morning. Emergency crews were called to the 15-storey building at Bayview Avenue and Front Street East around 8:40 a.m. after elevated gas levels were detected.
Paramedics transported one person to hospital with minor injuries. Toronto Fire later determined the source of the leak was a mechanical unit on the building’s roof. The tower was initially evacuated as a precaution, but officials confirmed residents could safely return once the issue was addressed.
Bayview Avenue, which had been closed between Front Street and Lauren Harris Square during the response, has since reopened.
