A tragic late-night crash on Highway 401 near Drumbo has resulted in the death of a 19-year-old and caused a road closure that lasted several hours.

The collision occurred around 6:39 p.m. on Friday in the eastbound lanes near Oxford Road 22 in Blandford-Blenheim Township. Emergency responders, including the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), paramedics, and fire services, arrived at the scene to find a single vehicle involved in the crash.

Three people were in the vehicle at the time. A 19-year-old from London was critically injured and transported to a local hospital, where they later died. The driver and another passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the incident, the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for several hours between Oxford Road 29 and Cedar Creek Road for investigation. The highway reopened around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.
