Snowy weather led to challenging driving conditions across Simcoe County on Sunday, with multiple crashes reported. In Springwater Township, a crash that occurred between Vigo Road and Crossland Road led to a closure on County Road 92. By 12:29 p.m., the area had been cleared, though injuries were still being assessed during the investigation.
Not far from there, a car flipped over on Highway 400 near Horseshoe Valley Road. Fortunately, the driver and passenger were both unhurt.
Further east, two cars collided around 11:15 a.m. on Highway 12 between Brechin and Beaverton. Five people were hospitalized, though the severity of their injuries remains unclear. Highway 12 was temporarily closed for investigation but has since reopened.
Environment Canada issued a snow squall warning for much of Simcoe County, predicting up to 20 centimeters of snow. The agency advised drivers that travel would be hazardous and to expect rapidly changing conditions on the roads.
