A 60-year-old woman died after a three-vehicle collision in North York on Sunday afternoon, according to police. The crash occurred around 4:10 p.m. on the northbound off-ramp of the Don Valley Parkway at Eglinton Avenue East.
Investigators say the woman, driving a Honda Civic, was exiting the northbound DVP when she failed to follow the off-ramp onto eastbound Eglinton for reasons that remain unclear. Her vehicle continued north, crossed the eastbound lanes of Eglinton, and was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The car then crossed the Eglinton LRT tracks and was hit again by a westbound vehicle before stopping at a construction fence.
The other vehicles involved were a Ford Bronco and a Kia Soul. The woman was taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries and later died. One additional person was hospitalized with minor injuries, while three others were treated at the scene for minor issues.
The collision led to multiple road closures, including eastbound Eglinton, the northbound DVP off-ramp to Eglinton, and westbound Eglinton beyond the northbound DVP on-ramp, as police conducted their investigation.
Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Toronto police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
