Windsor police are investigating a hit-and-run involving a cyclist and a vehicle that was later found burned.

Officers were called to the 500 block of Wellington Avenue just after 3 p.m. on Dec. 27 after a cyclist was struck by a car. Police say the cyclist was riding north when a vehicle hit him from behind. The car then crashed into a parked vehicle in a driveway, forcing it into a utility pole, before speeding away northbound on Wellington Avenue. The cyclist suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The following evening around 7:30 p.m., police responded to a vehicle fire in the 2200 block of Charl Avenue. At the scene, officers found a grey 2017 Chevrolet Cruze that had been heavily damaged by fire, along with a jerry can nearby.

Investigators believe the burned vehicle may be the same one involved in the hit-and-run. Police are asking residents and business owners in both neighbourhoods to check security cameras or dashcam recordings that could provide information to help identify the suspect.
