Ottawa police say a snowplow driver was arrested following a collision in Stittsville on Monday evening after officers discovered the operator was banned from driving for life.
Officers were called to the intersection of Fernbank Road and Black’s Side Road around 7 p.m. after a collision between a snowplow and an SUV. Police determined the snowplow driver was behind the wheel despite a lifetime licence suspension and was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from Ontario Provincial Police.
Paramedics assessed the SUV driver at the scene and took them to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Police are reminding the public to use caution near snow-clearing equipment and to report suspected unlicensed drivers.
