Ontario Provincial Police are examining the circumstances surrounding a deadly two-vehicle collision that happened Monday afternoon in Kawartha Lakes.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 12:19 p.m. to Killarney Bay Road, between Highway 35 and Cambray Road, after reports of a serious crash involving two vehicles. A 60-year-old woman from Orillia was taken to hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The other driver involved was not hurt.
Police noted that snowy conditions and reduced visibility were present at the time of the crash. The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team assisted at the scene.
The road was shut down for several hours to allow investigators to work and reopened at approximately 8:26 p.m. Police say the investigation is continuing.
