Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal ATV collision that claimed the life of a five-year-old child in Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Township over the weekend.
Police and Renfrew County paramedics were called to a property around 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 10. Investigators say the incident involved a single tracked ATV on private land. Preliminary findings indicate the child was operating the vehicle alone and was wearing a helmet when the ATV struck a tree.
The child was taken by ambulance to a local hospital before being airlifted to a regional trauma centre, where they later died from their injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing with the involvement of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and a post-mortem examination is planned. Police are asking anyone with relevant information to contact the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP or Crime Stoppers.
