Ottawa firefighters helped free a driver trapped in their vehicle following a two-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon. Fire crews witnessed the crash near Carling Avenue and Merivale Road around 2:40 p.m. and immediately stopped to assist.

Both vehicles had significant damage and deployed airbags, with each occupied by a single driver. One driver was trapped inside their vehicle, prompting firefighters to use a hydraulic extrication tool to remove the driver’s-side door and safely free the individual around 2:50 p.m.

Paramedics took an adult woman to hospital in stable condition for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
