A 59-year-old woman remains in critical condition after being hit by an SUV in Sudbury Thursday evening.
Police say the collision happened just before 7:10 p.m. on Algonquin Road. The woman was struck while crossing the street by a black SUV travelling toward Regent Street. The driver stopped at the scene, assisted the pedestrian, and called emergency services.
Paramedics transported the woman to Health Sciences North, where she is being treated for life-threatening injuries. Sudbury police traffic officers are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
Update – Police provided an update that the 59-year-old woman has died from her injuries in the hospital on January 29.
Update 2– Police have laid a charge of careless driving causing death to a 20-year-old local man. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on June 12, 2026.
