Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is examining the circumstances surrounding the death of a 24-year-old man after a vehicle crash that occurred Friday night on Bank Street, south of Vernon.

Ottawa police were called to a rollover involving a minivan near the intersection of Bank Street and Morningside Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. According to the SIU, officers found the vehicle but did not locate any occupants at the scene. Efforts to identify and reach the vehicle’s registered owner were unsuccessful, and police cleared the area.

The following morning, an officer returned to the location and discovered a man’s body close to the crash site, covered by snow. The individual was later identified as a 24-year-old male. Ottawa police closed Bank Street between Boyd Road and Morningside Avenue as the investigation continued.

Update – The 24-year-old man is identified to be Cole Misner.
