An investigation is ongoing after an early morning fire at an apartment building in Kitchener.
Emergency crews were called to a building near Queen Street South and Charles Street East at about 4:10 a.m. Regional police say the blaze was put out by Kitchener fire crews, who believe it originated on the second floor.
Two residents have been located, while efforts continue to account for two others. The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified and is involved in the investigation.
No injuries have been reported. However, officials say the building sustained structural damage and will require extensive restoration. Damage estimates are not yet available, and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
