A Bradford man is facing multiple charges after police linked an uninsured vehicle to a hit-and-run collision in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
South Simcoe Police said officers first stopped the vehicle on Holland Street West around 4 p.m. on January 25 after noticing a 10-day temporary permit that had expired nearly a year earlier. The driver provided documents claiming the vehicle was insured and was charged at that time with expired validation. Police noted it was the second validation-related offence involving the same vehicle in less than two months.
Further investigation revealed the insurance documents were invalid and that the vehicle had been uninsured for approximately three months. The following day, January 26, police received a report of a hit-and-run involving a vehicle at a local business. Information obtained during the investigation indicated the suspect vehicle was the same one stopped the previous day.
Police later located the vehicle travelling westbound on Holland Street and conducted another traffic stop. A 23-year-old man from Bradford was charged with three counts of operating a motor vehicle without insurance, two counts of providing false proof of insurance, and one count of making a false statement.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on March 9.
