A stretch of the QEW in southern Ontario was temporarily shut down Thursday morning following several collisions linked to hazardous road conditions. Ontario Provincial Police closed the highway between Bowen Road and Netherby Road near Fort Erie in the Niagara Region as emergency crews responded.

Police reported multiple incidents in the area, including several vehicles in ditches, a crash involving two tractor-trailers, another tractor-trailer off the roadway, and a separate collision between two passenger vehicles. Officers assisted stranded drivers while managing the scene in both directions of the highway.

The closure was lifted and traffic resumed shortly after 9:30 a.m., according to police.
