A basement fire in a Cambridge home Thursday morning is not being treated as suspicious. Fire crews responded around 7 a.m. to a residence on Weaver Street, where flames were found in the basement and quickly extinguished.

Working smoke alarms alerted the occupants, though two residents in the lower unit were checked by paramedics and taken to hospital. The full extent of the fire damage has not yet been determined.

While the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office was informed, Cambridge Fire Department officials say there are no signs of foul play.
