Ontario Provincial Police have charged a novice driver with multiple offences following a single-vehicle crash early this week in Archipelago Township.
The collision happened shortly after midnight on Feb. 2 along Highway 69. Police attended the scene and launched an impaired driving investigation.
A 28-year-old from Birch Island now faces several charges, including impaired operation, dangerous driving and driving while under suspension. Investigators say the driver held only a G1 licence and was also charged with multiple violations of novice driver conditions, such as driving without a qualified accompanying driver, travelling on a restricted highway and operating a vehicle during prohibited hours.
Additional charges include possession of cocaine and breaching a probation order. Police also imposed a 90-day licence suspension, and the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in a Parry Sound court on April 2.
