Arthur Street South in Elmira was briefly shut down Friday afternoon after a garbage truck struck a hydro pole, bringing live electrical wires down onto the roadway.
The closure affected the stretch between Howard Avenue and Oriole Parkway while crews worked to clear the scene and address the hazard. Police said no injuries were reported.
The road reopened to traffic shortly before 6 p.m.
