A snowmobile crash on Lake of the Woods sent a 60-year-old man to hospital with serious injuries late last week.
Ontario Provincial Police say the single-vehicle incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 in the Clearwater Bay area. Investigators determined the man was riding a motorized snow vehicle when it struck an ice ridge on the lake.
OPP officers and paramedics with Kenora Northwest EMS arrived at the scene and provided emergency care. Due to the severity of his injuries, the man was airlifted to the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre for treatment.
Police later confirmed that, following medical care, the man’s condition has stabilized.
