Train service has returned to normal in Guelph after a man was fatally struck by a GO train Thursday morning.
According to Guelph Police Service, authorities are withholding details about the victim until his family has been notified. Metrolinx reported the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. near York Road and Watson Road South on the city’s east side. Watson Road was closed for several hours while investigators worked at the scene.
The collision disrupted service at multiple GO stations, including Kitchener GO Station, with riders advised to use the Milton line for eastbound travel. By just before 10 a.m., the investigation was complete, allowing trains to resume passage, though some delays, cancellations, and service adjustments persisted into the late morning.
GO Transit cancelled the 11:26 a.m. Kitchener GO train and is providing support for passengers affected by the disruption. Riders are encouraged to check the GO tracker for updated departure information.
