A 46-year-old woman has died following a hit-and-run collision in Sudbury.
Police say officers were called to the scene shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27. Early findings indicate the woman was struck while in the northbound lane of Paris Street by a vehicle that left the area before authorities were notified.
Emergency crews attempted to save her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not released the victim’s name. The incident remains under investigation.
Update – A 55-year-old man from Greater Sudbury was arrested later that day and charged with failure to stop after an accident causing death. The suspect, whose name has not been released, was granted release and will appear in court on April 29 to face the charge.
