A major fire destroyed a two-storey home in Ramara Township on Monday night, prompting a large-scale response from local crews.

Firefighters arrived at the older house at Concession Road 9 and Sideroad 15 to find it heavily engulfed in flames. Thirty-two firefighters took part in the operation.

Two occupants were inside when the fire broke out but managed to get out safely before conditions deteriorated. No injuries were reported.

With no hydrants available in the rural area, crews relied on a coordinated tanker shuttle system to maintain a steady water supply. Additional support, including a fourth tanker from Rama, was brought in to strengthen what officials described as a superior tanker shuttle operation. The sustained water access enabled firefighters to mount an aggressive attack and stop the fire from spreading further.

Investigators are still working to confirm the cause, though early indications point to a wood-burning appliance. Damage is estimated at $450,000, and the home has been declared a total loss.
