Two people have died following a head-on collision north of London on Highbury Avenue.

Police say the crash happened around 7:40 p.m. on Highbury Avenue between Thirteen Mile Road and Fourteen Mile Road in Middlesex Centre, when two vehicles collided.

The drivers, who were the only occupants of their vehicles, were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 75-year-old from St. Thomas and a 28-year-old from Georgian Bluffs were later pronounced dead.

The road remained closed overnight while investigators examined the scene and reopened early Friday. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
