Ontario Provincial police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred in the Kawartha Lakes region on Saturday morning.
Emergency crews were called around 7 a.m. to Elm Tree Road in Kirkfield, between Star Road and Riley Lane, after reports of a crash involving one vehicle.
Police say the 51-year-old female driver from the local area was taken to hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Elm Tree Road was temporarily closed between Star Road and Riley Lane while officers examined the scene, but the roadway has since reopened. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP detachment.
