Police have made an arrest following a suspicious house fire in Tiny Township on Sunday evening.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a structure fire on Macedonia Circle shortly before 6 p.m. Tiny Township Fire Services arrived to find a house fully engulfed in flames, along with a separate garage on the property, and worked to put out the blaze.

One person suffered minor injuries and smoke inhalation and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. A dog inside the home died in the fire, and a neighbouring residence also sustained damage.

Southern Georgian Bay Ontario Provincial Police later stopped a vehicle on Golf Link Road in Tiny Township and arrested a 79-year-old man in connection with the incident. The person remains in custody.

Police say the man faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, two counts of arson, mischief, and spousal assault. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the fire to contact the Southern Georgian Bay OPP.
