A 15-month-old boy has died after a three-vehicle crash near Leamington on Monday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police say emergency crews responded to the collision at the intersection of Highway 3 and County Road 31 around 10:10 a.m. The infant, who was a passenger in an SUV, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
The driver of the SUV, a 33-year-old woman, was also transported to hospital with serious injuries. Three other individuals from the other vehicles involved were treated for minor injuries.
The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement unit assisted with the investigation. During the response, Highway 3 was closed between County Road 34 and County Road 31, while County Road 31 was shut down between County Road 18 and Highway 3. Both roads have since reopened.
Police are asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact OPP or submit information anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
