Part of Highway 401 in Clarington was temporarily shut down Wednesday morning due to multiple crashes and water pooling on the roadway.
Ontario Provincial Police closed all eastbound lanes at Holt Road near Bowmanville Avenue after several collisions were reported in the area. Authorities also noted flooding conditions on the highway.
Minor injuries were reported in the incidents.
Shortly before 8:40 a.m., one left lane reopened to traffic, and by just before 9 a.m., the highway had fully reopened near Bowmanville Avenue. Police warned that drivers could still experience delays as congestion cleared.
