A four-vehicle collision occurred in Greater Sudbury during the early evening of March 11 after a Tesla sedan reportedly lost control on Municipal Road 35 (Elm Street).
Police say the crash happened around 4:20 p.m. between the Lasalle Extension and Big Nickel Road. Investigators believe the eastbound Tesla was heading toward downtown when it veered across the centre line into oncoming traffic. The vehicle first collided head-on with a green Hyundai SUV, and the impact led to additional crashes involving a black Honda CR-V and a black Honda Pilot.
The driver of the Honda CR-V suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. The Tesla driver was also hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the Hyundai driver had minor injuries.
The Honda Pilot’s driver and two passengers experienced minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.
Police say the investigation is still underway and are asking witnesses or anyone with dash-camera footage from the area at the time to contact the Integrated Traffic Safety Unit.
