Firefighters in Ottawa successfully contained a fire to a single apartment balcony thanks to a rapid and coordinated response.

The blaze was reported around 7:39 p.m. Wednesday at a large apartment building on McArthur Avenue, first by a monitoring agency and then by multiple 911 callers, indicating it was on the fourth floor.

Fire crews arrived within four minutes and quickly evacuated residents while ensuring no one remained inside. The flames were extinguished in under ten minutes, preventing the fire from spreading beyond the balcony. No injuries were reported, and firefighters ventilated the building before residents were allowed to return.
