A 67-year-old man from Chatham has died following a scuba diving incident at Erieau marina earlier this week.
Police say emergency crews were called around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday after the diver failed to resurface in the boating channel. Multiple teams responded and launched a search operation in the water.
Due to challenging conditions in the channel, authorities had to use specialized equipment and resources during the search. The man’s body was recovered Thursday morning at approximately 8 a.m.
Officials later confirmed the death, and police have expressed their condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones.
