A stretch of Highway 401 west of Brockville was temporarily closed Friday afternoon after a jackknifed tractor-trailer and a separate two-vehicle collision.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to the first incident near County Road 2, where no injuries were reported. Shortly afterward, a second crash involving two vehicles occurred nearby, resulting in minor injuries.

Authorities closed eastbound lanes while crews removed the vehicles and cleared the roadway. Snowplows also had to treat the road before it could safely reopen, which happened just after 2:30 p.m.

Snowfall across eastern Ontario contributed to the hazardous conditions during the incidents.
