A high-speed crash in Markham early Friday morning left a 28-year-old driver seriously injured and sent to a Toronto trauma centre.
Emergency crews responded to the scene on Major Mackenzie Drive East near Kennedy Road around 12:42 a.m. Friday, where they found a badly damaged vehicle and the lone driver with significant injuries.
Police believe the car was travelling at high speed when the driver lost control, causing it to roll over and come to rest upside down.
The man was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital in critical condition, but police later said his injuries have since stabilized and are no longer life-threatening.
Authorities confirmed no other vehicles or occupants were involved. The investigation is ongoing, with early indications suggesting speed played a major role. Drivers are advised to avoid the area until the road fully reopens.
