A Richmond Hill man is facing multiple charges after allegedly crashing on Highway 400 and fleeing the scene before being located in a nearby wooded area.
Police in Bracebridge responded to a single-vehicle collision shortly after 1 a.m. Monday on the southbound lanes near Twelve Mile Bay Road in Georgian Bay Township. Investigators say the vehicle left the roadway and slammed into a guardrail, causing significant damage, before the driver fled.
With assistance from the OPP Emergency Response Team, officers searched the area and eventually found the suspect in the woods, where he was arrested.
The 33-year-old has been charged with impaired driving, exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit, public mischief, and failing to remain at the scene of a crash. He is expected to appear in court at a later date.
