A 24-year-old man has been charged following a carjacking in Toronto’s Rexdale area on Monday morning.
Police say the incident occurred around 8:50 a.m. near Highway 27 and Belfield Road in north Etobicoke. Investigators allege the suspect threatened to shoot a victim before taking their vehicle.
After the carjacking, the suspect reportedly drove along Highway 401 in both directions. Durham Regional Police later spotted the vehicle, but the driver did not stop and fled when officers attempted a traffic stop.
The pursuit ended after the suspect was involved in a crash on the westbound lanes of Highway 401. He was arrested shortly afterward.
The accused, identified as 24-year-old Ralph Angy Duliepre, who has no fixed address, faces multiple charges including robbery, possession of stolen property over $5,000, fleeing police, dangerous driving, and breaching court orders. The allegations have not yet been proven in court.
He is scheduled to appear in bail court on Tuesday. Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
