A collision on the E.C. Row Expressway Wednesday afternoon has resulted in impaired driving charges against a 55-year-old woman.

Police were called around 3:30 p.m. to the westbound lanes near the Dougall Avenue off-ramp, where they found a heavily damaged Dodge Caliber in a ditch and two other vehicles with minor damage.

Investigators say the Dodge had been travelling west when construction led to slowed traffic and a lane closure. The driver allegedly failed to reduce speed, struck two vehicles, then crossed a guardrail and rolled down an embankment.

Officers reported signs of impairment while speaking with the driver, including slurred speech and the smell of alcohol. She was taken to hospital with minor injuries, where breath testing was conducted.

The woman has been charged with impaired driving, and her licence was suspended for seven days.
